Royal Observer Corps
OLNEY ROC POST
To Start a little history.
Royal Observer Corps Monitoring Posts are underground structures all over the United Kingdom, constructed as a result of the Corps' nuclear reporting role and operated by volunteers during the Cold War between 1955 and 1991.
Opened March 1964 & Closed September 1991.
This ROC Post was on a mound within a rectangular compound in the middle of a field.
This ROC Post was accessible. All surface features were intact the top of the access shaft was rebuilt after the hatch was blown off by an anti nuclear protester and a new large hatch fitted.
There were concrete steps that lead up to the post.
Nearly all the green paint had gone on the ventilation louvres.
A metal dome on the ventilation shaft indicated this was a mater post.
This post was pretty much intact still had some things inside unfortunately we did not get photos of the inside.
However there is a video that one of the team filmed inside so please enjoy.
